I decided I should post these Dark Chocolate and Trail Mix treats ASAP since they are delicious!! I am going on a loooong road trip next week, and I decided I better start thinking about some food that I can make, so we can avoid buying the junk at the gas stations and fast food restaurants. Although, these could be dangerous to have around when you’re trapped in the car all day! I think I’ll bring them, but I also think I’ll make these to have around. I usually have one little square of dark chocolate a day. This could be my new little treat instead! It’s nice because you can make them pretty small, so you can just have a taste. I keep them in the fridge, because I like them cold.
Dark Chocolate and Trail Mix
*1 bag of dark chocolate chips
* any kind of trail mix you want. I just used what I had left over after making my granola. If you don’t want to buy all the nuts and seeds individually you can find some trail mix with all of these at Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I used almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans, dried cranberries, and raisins.
Melt chocolate in the microwave. I did about 40 seconds at a time, and stirred in between until melted.
Drop just a little spoonful onto wax paper. (I put mine in the refrigerator, so I make sure I have wax paper on top of a cookie sheet)
Press trail mix into the chocolate.
Let sit for a couple hours, or put them in the refrigerator
