I remember when I first learned about this recipe back in the day. I thought it was so fun to be able to throw everything in the blender and make my own snack. But, the orange julius recipe I loved as a child had a significant amount of white sugar added to it. Lately my kids have been on a smoothie kick so I thought of these but wanted to eliminate the refined sugar. This healthier orange julius smoothie did not disappoint and they were begging for more.
I like to add frozen ripe bananas to almost any smoothie. Remember the riper it is the sweeter it will be. So, if you are not using those ripe bananas for banana bread or banana chocolate chip granola bars stick them in the freezer to have on hand.
